Neil Brown MD PhD PA

Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery

Dr Neil BrownDr. Neil Brown achieved an HBSc in Applied Mathematics at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada followed by an MSc in Physics at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He then returned to Western University and engaged in a combined MD-PhD program (PhD in Medical Biophysics). This was followed by a neurosurgical residency training program in the world renowned center at Western University (international acclaim through the pioneering pursuits of Dr. Charles Drake in cerebrovascular surgery and recruitment of multiple talented staff, Dr. Sydney (Skip) Peerless, Dr. John Girvin, Dr. Hugh Barr, Dr. Gary Ferguson, to name but a few).   Additional training with emphasis on spinal instrumentation was obtained at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix under the direction of Dr. Volker Sonntag and Dr. Curtis Dickman as well as generous exposure to the technical finesse of the master neurosurgeon, Dr. Robert Spetzler.

After completion of training Dr. Neil Brown has been practicing in the United States and is board certified in Canada (Neurosurgical Specialist; Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons) , and the United States (Fellow of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons; Fellow of the American Board of Spine Surgery; Fellow of the American College of Surgeons).

Dr. Neil Brown has adopted a concierge type practice which allows him to spend more scheduled time for patients (typically 1 hour visit for new consults) in order to provide optimal education of their treatment options. Whenever feasible, newer clinically proven treatment options such as minimally invasive spine surgery or placement of artificial cervical discs are advocated.

Dr. Neil Brown’s educational background in applied mathematics and physics coupled with clinical training in neurosurgery also provides a unique opportunity to address clinical and biomechanical causation of injuries.
